Grandma Brown's 90th B-day

Thomas R Marshall was the vice president.
Unemployment in the U.S. was 1.4%,
The cost of a first-class postage stamp was 3 cents.
Th Boston Red Sox's defeated the Chicago Cubs in the World Series.
(Their last championship until2004)
The Wimbledon Tennis tournament was not held due to World War I.
World War I had started in June 1914 and ended on November 11, 1918,
The Spanish Flu began, by 1920 over 1/2 million people in the U.S. had died on it.
In Russia, the revolutionists killed the entire family of the Czar.
The Russian Civil War lasted until 1920.
A Gallon of milk cost $.55, a loaf of bread cost $.10.
A Gallon of Gasoline cost $.08, an automobile cost $500.
The first auto in Pomerene was owned by Charles R Scott in 1919.
(The first gas pump was't installed until 1921)
Pomerene got electricity in 1930 and telephones in 1949.
Joseph F. Smith was president of the Church until his death on November 19, 1918.
Heber J. Grant was ordained and set apart as president on November 23, 1918.
Couselors to both President Joseph F. Smith and heber J. Grant in 1918 were Anthon Henrik Lund and Charles William Penrose.
Louie B. Felt, the first General President of the Primary, was still president in 1918. Emmeline B Wells was president of the Relief Society.

Martha H. Tingey was president of the YMMIA (The 2nd president of YWMIA).
San Pedro Ward was organized from the San Pedro Branch on April 30, 1905. It later was taken into the St. David Ward. In 1910 the St. Joseph Stake headquarters were moved to Thatcher, AZ and St. David became part of the Los Angeles District of the Califonia Mission, later the Arizona District of the California Mission.

Folding Chairs for the outside
(Hawaiian Chicken Salad, Plates, Cups, Utensils,
and Drink will be provided)
If your family would like to prepare a song, poem, or skit for the program, please contact us by August 15.
*Knox Road is south of Warner, north of Ray Road and you must enter off of Rural Road. The Building is next to Corona Del Sol High School.
